First Snow

Thursday, November 6th, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

While driving home and right before I turned onto my street, the sun was shining through this tree, and I knew I had to run and grab my camera.  After taking a few angle, bracketing, etc I felt as if I got my shot.  I think I did, but I wish a bit more of the sun was coming through the tree lighting it up as I saw it when I drove in.

While Children Sleep

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 | A Day In the Life | 1 Comment

Late last night, I did what I’ve been meaning to do for a while.  Get my son while he’s sleeping.  I bracketed and HDR’d this photo, with 5 layer masks doing various effects.  I went outside after and got his little red wagon [actually its pretty big], and some shots of my street.  I love long exposure night photography.

My Brother and I built a ring light last night as well.  Pushing 8 lights at 100w each, I took this as soon as we were finished.

Strobists @ Liberty Park

Sunday, October 26th, 2008 | A Day In the Life | No Comments

Utah Strobists meet at Liberty Park today for Family Portraits.  I didn’t get to stay as long as I would of wanted; I had my two young sons with me who were absolutely done.  Next time I’ll be able to say longer, but take a look at what I got while I was there.  I played around with gelling my strobes which made the background funk out a lot.

Friends of Friends

Saturday, October 25th, 2008 | Headshots | 1 Comment

I had this young woman contact me because she knew Eliza Wren, whom I’ve worked with a bit in the past.  I always like to meet people who know who I know, so we set up a time to do a headshot session.  Truth be told this was quite a while ago, yet I love this photo a lot and thought it relevant to post.  Enjoy.

Gardner Village

Sunday, October 19th, 2008 | A Day In the Life | 1 Comment

Tonight, I went out with the Flickr group Photowalking to Gardner Village.  I didn’t know what to expect, but after everyone meet up initially, everyone went off and did their own thing.  I stuck with a couple of people and kept my son in tow [he brought his own camera as well].  We had a good time … eating doughnuts, and taking pictures.  Looking forward to our next walking event.

Snow Queen

Friday, October 17th, 2008 | A Day In the Life | No Comments

Last year, working with Isaac, this was our first project we did together.  Dani was great, and willing to do whatever it took to get the project done.  Even stand in the cold cold snow.  Well, even though these are really really late, I’ve finished our favoriets!  Just posting one of these for now.

Oldie, but goodie

Thursday, October 16th, 2008 | A Day In the Life | No Comments

This is a photograph from last year.  This young lady decided not to pursue a career in acting, which was too bad as she was so charismatic in front of the camera.  I enjoyed shooting with her and her friends.  I’ve recently [after archiving files] came back to her photo’s and decided to do something with one of them.

Lawrence Bucher

Sunday, October 12th, 2008 | A Day In the Life, Headshots | No Comments

Lawrence is a driven man who knows what he wants, and knows how to get there.  I was contacted by Lawrence through Riveted and aside from the standard headshot he wanted some portfolio building.  I was excited to get to do something other than headshots with the Riveted clients.

We started in the alleyway between Main & State, and 100s & 200s.  We worked on stairwells, platforms, nooks, walls, and eventually moved out to the street.  As we moved to the corner of Main & 2nd people started to notice him and honked, waved, girls flirted … it was pretty crazy.

Afterward we moved into the studio and did some low key shots, and ended up with some good headshots.  Lawrence has a lot going for him right now.  He just finished producing & directing a movie called 40 below.  he is also starring in Death Rattle LSD, which you can see a preview on his myspace page.  Speaking of which … yeah those are my photo’s he has up there.  Check out some of his work below.
