Jason has been out of work for 5 months. At first, he said, he welcomed the break from work and a chance to re-asses his career, life, etc. He started to look for work, putting out 10-20 job applications a week. In the 5 months he has interviewed 5 times. Each time he didn’t get the job.
Jason is a self-reliant person and when it came time for him needing help, like many people he didn’t want to ask or accept it. His friend had to harass him for a few weeks to get him to move in with him to help him save on rent. When his friends would invite him out to dinner their treat, he hardly took them up on it. His unemployment helps him pay his bills, and he has been doing some side jobs for friends and family to help bring in a little money.
While he has enjoyed his time off, he’s battled with depression, and find himself thinking what’s wrong with him. The fact that he can’t get a job is very un-nerving. Jason understand that there are a lot of people looking for work and its “not him”, but he says it still nags at him each time he goes for an interview or submits an application.
He’s found himself a job but its in Boston. He’ll be taking off on Monday to start a new life in a new city. He’s lived his entire life in Utah. A month ago he would of told me he was never going to leave Utah. Now he’s packing up his boxes and saying his goodbye’s to family and friends.
Best of luck Jason.
